Unlock and export a PDF
For documents you are authorized to access, enter the password and export a password-free visual copy. Everything runs locally.
Unlock a document you can open
The password is used only in this browser and is not saved or sent anywhere.
Important: exported pages are rasterized.
The output is a new, genuinely password-free PDF, but it contains page images only. Searchable/selectable text, links, forms, tags, and accessibility information are lost. Export only documents you have permission to unlock.
Free: 3 exports per day with a small watermark. Upgrade to Pro for larger page/file limits and unlimited daily use.
PDF encryption: unsupported
This browser-compatible library combination can read password-protected PDFs with PDF.js and create ordinary PDFs with pdf-lib, but pdf-lib 1.17.1 does not create encrypted PDFs. This tool does not offer encryption or pretend to protect a file with a custom wrapper.
Supported unlock limits
PDF.js 3.11.174 opens password-protected PDFs for authorized reading. Free supports up to 10 MB and 5 pages; Pro supports up to 100 MB and 25 pages. Each output page is rasterized at 120 DPI and limited to 24 megapixels, with a total budget of 30 megapixels (free) or 60 megapixels (Pro). Owner-password permission restrictions cannot be preserved in the new copy.
